Trovela, Lourdes

Hello My Name Is...

I am a teacher of the students who are blind and visually impaired of the entire district. I am an itinerant teacher, which means I don't have a classroom of my own because, I go to my students in each campus. My students range in age from an infant  under Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) to high school. They may be high functioning VI students in the regular education setting or multi handicapped in the unit.  I have been a teacher for visually impaired students  since 2007, but I used to teach regular kids from elementary to high school. When I am with them, I  help my high functioning students to access the lessons through technology, teach them life skills to be independent in their own way and  to use their senses to gather information in their environment. And lastly, I also  help them develop work skills (for those who can) so that when they graduate they could be productive member of their family and community as well.
